Shelly (Aurora, IN)
Hi, my name is Shelly. Here is my story. I had Syd, german shepherd for 18 years. The day after her 19th birthday I had to put her down. At that time it was the hardest thing I'd ever done. But, my sister, whom I got Syd from, was there to support me through it. That was January 2009. Then on January 28th my sister went into a coma and I was the one that made the decision to finally let her go on my mothers birthday, Feb. 3rd, 2009.
I felt all alone. I found joy in my boys who are 13 and 19 and in my work as a dog groomer. They were always there to make me smile and I felt very close to each and everyone of my clients after that, and still do. My heart was broken not only for my girl of 18 years but my sister, who I was very close to, and my mother
Then one day in August of 2009 with all this going on, I received a call from an old friend saying her parents were getting rid of a german shepherd due to a killing spree of chickens on their farm...I, to this day still say it wasn't my baby!! lol My friend knew everything I had been going through and said it might help me to have a four-legged best friend again. I thought...oh, this is all I need...but, I went to the farm and the moment I saw him...I fell in love. He was soooo shy and backwards but I knew he was meant for me. I've had him ever since that night and I can honestly say.....he saved me and is healing my broken heart everyday. I have good days and bad but he is always there for me and it is strange to say but I feel my family in this dogs eyes. I love him so much and I can't thank God enough for giving him to me. Wow, now I"m crying writing this but the tears are full of joy because he is so awesome. I always say "thank you" to him for saving me. Thanks for listening. His name is Bo. He's still very shy but is getting so much better. I could't have asked for a better dog and I know my sister had something to do with it. I knew she would send me a dog that was just meant to be. And believe me....me and Bo were totally meant to be. :)
